Message From Dr. Rodriguez, President MiraCosta College

Many students attend a local community college like MiraCosta College because it is close and convenient, while others because community colleges provide a cost-efficient way to transfer. Some come to MiraCosta College after having not done so well in high school, or perhaps never finished high school at all. Others come who have excelled in high school and want high-quality education in a friendly environment. Whatever the reason for attendance, we embrace and accept them all gladly and without exception. Our students and their families soon learn that community colleges represent the greatest educational value, and that our teachers, programs and services are among the very best in higher education.

The cost of attending a public university in California has risen to as much as six times that of attending a community college. As a result, more local students are relying on MiraCosta College at a savings of as much as $35,000 on their way to a four-year degree. As we experience the effects of our current economic situation we want to assist you in making the most of these challenging times.

MiraCosta College has a long tradition of serving our communities and transforming lives through education. I want to extend a personal invitation to visit one of our three campuses—in Oceanside or Cardiff—or visit us online at www.miracosta.edu. We want to help you reach your academic goals!

Dr. Francisco C. Rodriguez

Learn to Swim the Hall of Fame Way at Murray Callan Swim Schools

Be Safe Around Pools this Summer

Most kids in North County, it seems over the years, may have taken swimming lessons at Murray Callan Swim Schools. It is owned and operated by three generations of the Callan Family. They own and operate two indoor pools, one in North County and one in San Diego. Their schools provide expertise with over 60 years experience in swim instruction and public education and are recognized worldwide as the leading innovator in swimming instruction for infants and young children. Murray Callan is also a Hall of Fame recipient of the United States Swim School Association. The most impressive thing about Murray Callan and his family is how much they care about the local community and how much they give back.

Murray Callan Swim Schools offer one-on-one swimming instruction and teach all levels from beginning through advanced. The instructors are professional, personal and patient and offer instruction for ages three months through adults. North County Sun Publisher, Andy Lee, says, “ My daughter took swimming lessons at Murray Callan in North County when she was about three years old. I was really impressed how quickly she improved after each lesson. I highly recommend their swim school”

Spring is here and summer is just around the corner, so give Murray Callan Swim School a call. Classes fill up fast! Call (760) 744-7946 or visit www.murraycallanswimschools.com.
