Belly Up Brings World-Class Entertainment to 33rd Annual Fiesta Del Sol in Solana Beach!
June 2-3, Sat-Sun, 9am-5pm
The Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce, The City of Solana Beach and the Belly Up Tavern present the 33rd Annual Fiesta Del Sol on June 2 and 3 at Fletcher Cove Park. The festival is expected to draw over 50,000 to the beautiful park. After a successful partnership that was rekindled in 2008, the Belly Up will partner for the fifth year with the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce and the City of Solana Beach to put on the biggest festival of the year in Solana Beach.
Once again, the Belly Up, in conjunction with the Chamber, will oversee entertainment booking, advertising, public relations and sponsorship for the Fiesta del Sol. The festival provides art, food and live music booked through the Belly Up.
The music lineup is rich with rock, reggae, soul, funk, jazz, blues, Latin, and world beat, spanning cultures and countries from Africa to Brazil to the USA. So far this year, headliners Include the English Beat on June 2 and Donovan Frankenreiter on June 3.
Fiesta del Sol is open to all ages and the entertainment is free! The event hosts an international food court and beer garden for those over 21. One of the newest additions to this year’s festival are the Gourmet Foodie Trucks. Arts and crafts booths line the adjacent streets of Solana Beach each day from 9am-5pm. In addition to those booths, non-profit organizations have informational booths. There are plenty of activities for children throughout the day. Saturday guests are urged to use the Coaster for convenience. Free parking and shuttle bus service are also planned along with pedi-cabs.

Adams Avenue Unplugged Music Festival

Adams Avenue Unplugged makes its debut along a two-mile stretch of Adams Avenue on Saturday, April 21, 11am to 9pm, and Sunday, April 22, 12pm to 7pm. This exciting new weekend music festival is free and open to the public. From Texas Street on the west end to Kensington on the east end, more than 30 participating restaurants and bars present over 170 live, unplugged (acoustic) musical performances.
Adams Avenue Unplugged offers music lovers an intimate and club-like setting, as well as three community stages spread out along Adams Avenue. Some of San Diego’s top musicians perform a variety of musical genres over the weekend, with some performers playing multiple sets to allow attendees to catch their favorite artists while enjoying the neighborhood’s many unique shops along the Adams Avenue business corridor. Adams Avenue Unplugged is being programmed by a quartet of local music veterans who have curated past music festivals, including the Adams Avenue Roots Festival and Adams Avenue Street Fair. The fab-four are: Kent Johnson, a local musician and co-publisher of the The Troubadour; Lou Curtiss, roots music historian and owner of Folk Arts Rare Records; Louis Brazier, talent programmer at Lestat’s; and Steve Kader, music programmer for several Adams Avenue Street Fairs.

Roger Waters, the co-founder and principal songwriter of the archetypal progressive band Pink Floyd, has announced the return of the historic production of “The Wall” to North America in 2012. His aural and visual masterpiece of alienation and transformation will be performed in-its-entirety featuring a full band and state-of-the-art production at Valley View Casino Center on May 13. “The Wall” live has played more than 120 shows around the world for more than 1.6 million fans making it one of the most successful tours of 2010 and 2011. The 2012 tour will begin on May 1st in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center making a 36 show trek throughout North America, including several outdoor stadium performances with state of the art modifications transforming the arena production into magnificent outdoor events. “Thirty years ago when I wrote ‘The Wall,’ I was a frightened young man,” Waters recalls. “In the intervening years it occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with its concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, whatever!
